Describe your brand/business in 3 words:
Natural, Sustainable, Skincare
What inspires you when you think about the future of your business?
Being part of the Nuasan team has been a whirlwind. When I joined at the beginning of 2020 to support the launch of a new brand, I could never have envisioned the challenges we were going to be faced with. Knowing that we got through a global pandemic and still managed to grow the brand and build awareness is what inspires me to keep going, to keep pushing through and ensuring as many people know about Nuasan as possible!
What has been the biggest challenge you faced when building your business?
Building the awareness and breaking through the noise on social media. Social media is the easiest yet hardest marketing tool to manage. There is so much content being shared daily and people get fatigued. Being creative and sharing valuable content is time consuming, but worth every second. Building a community online is the best thing you can do for your brand.
How do you look after your wellbeing when working long hours?
I love taking daily walks. I live in a small village in the West of Ireland, so when WFH, I take strolls around the village, seeing people I know it’s great. When I’m at the office, our HQ is right beside a beach called Salthill which has the most beautiful promenade. So, when it’s not raining, I love to get down to the beach.
What would your friends, family or colleagues say is your greatest skill?
Probably talking! Aside from that, organising events and get togethers and possibly my communication skills. I’m always the first to chime up in the family Whatsapp group and call my family everyday.
What sustainable swaps have you made over the past few years?
I always use a refillable water bottle, but if I’m out and about and have forgotten it, I always choose a bottled wated that’s used recycled plastic. Also, my father has a farm and grows lots of his own organic vegetables. He kindly started growing vegetables for me like courgettes, bell peppers and chilli peppers. I love that I can use these instead of buying processed vegetables that come in plastic packaging. Obviously, I’m very lucky to have someone to do that for me 😊
Can you name something positive to have come out of 2020?
I would say working with Nuasan has been a really positive thing for me. When you get through the tough times and come out the other side, it makes you very thankful and more positive about each day. 2020 gave us a chance to focus on what our customers really want and need and work on created new products and offerings.
What is the best advice you could give to an entrepreneur starting a business?
I’m not an entrepreneur, but as someone who has worked with entrepreneurs for many years, I would say if you feel you have an idea for a product or service that is going to make someone’s life easier, then you owe it to yourself to pursue it in some way.
